Come on UP 祖師谷大蔵 - Soshigaya-Okura
Soshigaya-Okura station was first opened in 1927 and is situated in Tokyo’s Setagaya ward. One station before Seijougakuen-mae on the Odakyu line, Soshigaya is home to the famed Ultra Man, which was a popular live action TV show back in the 60’s. The main shopping street is lined with uniquely characterized street lamps and nostalgic action photos from this loved TV drama.
One can enjoy the lively buzz of this area’s populated shopping streets and then dine in local restaurants, which include everything from yakiniku (Korean BBQ) and Indian cuisine to mom and pop cafes and a delicious local hamburger shop. There are drug stores, supermarkets, post office, convenience stores, 24 hour grocer and a Daiso discount shop. The area also includes a public bath house (sentou - 銭湯) and large park within cycling distance (Kinuta Kouen).
Besides the Soshigaya station on the Odakyu line, Chitosekarasuayama on the Keio line can also easily be accessed by a 7 min bicycle ride. This area is also is very lively and includes many shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and a ramen shop that serves the most delicious 500yen ramen!
The house is furnished with a very comfortable family-type living room, which includes large flat screen TV, cable and a piano! Enjoy cooking in this fully loaded kitchen, or if you are lucky maybe you can taste the gourmet cooking of one the residents, who is an Italian chef =) Other residents include a shop worker, nurse, German translator and a civil servant student. Residents often enjoy a meal or drink together in a local shop, or just in the living room after work.
