September 2026 Highlights | Connections Beyond the Share House

2026-09-30

As the first signs of autumn arrived, September brought plenty of activity to Come on UP. We welcomed new residents, shared meals and farewell gatherings, and even connected with people from the local community.

Here are some highlights from life at Come on UP this September!

Welcoming New Residents — and Another Full House!

September was another active month for move-ins across our share houses in Tokyo and Osaka.

Our Midoribashi House in Osaka welcomed two new residents and is now fully occupied! Other houses also welcomed new residents from Japan and overseas, including people arriving from Italy and Ireland.

We also had a case where someone who first experienced Come on UP through a short-term stay later decided to move into one of our other share houses for a longer stay.

We’re always happy when people discover Come on UP in different ways and find a community that feels right for them.

Sharing Food and Everyday Moments

Some of the best parts of share house life happen around the table.

Before returning home, a former resident from Germany brought German snacks to share with everyone. It became a fun opportunity to talk about different foods and cultures and spend some time together before saying goodbye.

At another house, residents got together to make baguettes and other food for a farewell gathering.

In Kansai, residents and staff spent time cleaning up and gardening in the courtyard, followed by a meal and birthday celebration together.

Cooking together, taking care of the house, celebrating a birthday, or simply sitting down for a meal—these everyday moments are often where connections naturally grow.

Connecting with the Neighborhood at the “Tamariba” Event

In September, a community gathering called “Tamariba” was held on the first floor of Tamagawa house.

Around 17 people joined the event, including Come on UP residents, neighbors, people involved with the building and its design, residents from other share houses, and others who discovered the event online.

At Come on UP, we believe community doesn’t have to stop at the front door of a share house.

Connecting with the neighborhood and the people who live and work nearby can make life in a new city even more interesting. Tamariba is currently planned as a monthly event, creating an ongoing place for these connections to grow.

Creating a Comfortable Home Together

Living in a community also means taking care of the place we share.

At one of our houses, residents and staff worked together to clean up fallen leaves after receiving a request from a neighbor. In Kansai, residents also joined in to tidy and maintain a shared courtyard.

Small things like these are part of community living—working together to make not only the house itself, but also the surrounding neighborhood, a comfortable place to live.

Planning Some Fun for Autumn!

In Kansai, we’re planning a hands-on pottery experience followed by lunch, giving residents from different houses a chance to meet and try something new together.

In Tokyo, we’re considering a slightly unusual neighborhood adventure: exploring the Kichijoji area in search of unique manhole covers while walking around the city together!

Whether it’s trying a new activity or simply exploring the neighborhood, we love creating opportunities to experience more of the places we call home.

Looking Forward to Autumn at Come on UP

From welcoming new residents to sharing meals, celebrating together, and connecting with the local community, September showed us once again how many different forms share house life can take.

At Come on UP, people of different nationalities, ages, and backgrounds live together while still enjoying life at their own pace. We hope to create an environment where connections happen naturally, without feeling forced.

If you’re looking for a share house in Tokyo or Osaka, or you’re interested in living in an international community in Japan, take a look at our Come on UP share houses.

We’re looking forward to seeing what October brings!
