Come on UP Share House: Our Fun Monthly “House Meeting” Tradition

Hello! Come on UP operates small, community-focused share houses in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, and Kyoto, where residents can enjoy international exchange and build meaningful connections.

Each house has its own atmosphere and concept, but they all share one thing in common: we want to offer more than just a room. We want to create a place where people can meet others, experience new cultures, and build a new life in Japan together.

At Come on UP, we hold a House Meeting once a month. If you have never lived in a share house before, you might wonder:

“Can people from completely different backgrounds really live together comfortably?”

That is exactly why communication matters.

At Come on UP, residents are not simply people who happen to live under the same roof. We believe that everyone in the house can take part in shaping the way they live together. Our monthly House Meeting is one of the ways we make that possible.

Creating a Home Together, Rather Than Simply Following Rules

During a House Meeting, residents get together and talk about everyday life in the house, including things such as:

Utility costs

Cleaning and garbage responsibilities

How to use shared spaces

Any issues or concerns in the house

Ideas for making the house more comfortable

People living in a share house may have completely different nationalities, ages, jobs, schedules, and lifestyles. That is why we do not want one person’s way of living to become the rule for everyone.

Instead, we value understanding each other, talking openly, and creating a way of living that works for that particular house. Maybe someone says:

“Something around here has been bothering me lately.”

“Could we organize this space a little better?”

“Why don’t we organize an event together next month?”

Having a place where residents can casually share these small thoughts makes a big difference. It allows everyone to take part in the community and gradually create a home that feels more comfortable for everyone.

Our Community Managers Join the Conversation Too

Come on UP has Community Managers responsible for each area. Their role is a little different from what you might imagine when you hear the words “property manager.”

They are not simply there to make rules or supervise residents. Instead, they take part as one of the people helping residents build the community together. House Meetings are an important opportunity for that.

Residents can ask for help with issues that may be difficult to solve on their own, hear ideas that have worked well in other Come on UP houses, or sometimes even start planning the next house event together.

One of the characteristics of Come on UP is that residents and our team can communicate openly and casually with each other. Especially if you are moving to Japan from overseas, having someone you can comfortably talk to can make your new life feel much easier.

And After the Meeting… We Celebrate Together!

A Come on UP House Meeting does not always end when the discussion is over.

After this meeting, everyone raised a glass together. 🥂

Even a former resident who used to live in the house came back to visit, and everyone spent the evening eating, drinking, and catching up.

After talking seriously about life in the house, we can relax, laugh together, share food, and hear what everyone has been up to. Through moments like these, people who originally met simply as “housemates” gradually become friends and important people in each other’s lives.

A Community You Can Come Back To

Former residents sometimes come back to join Come on UP events or House Meetings.

We do not want the relationships you build here to disappear the moment you move out. When you have shared meals, organized events, talked about your worries, celebrated good news, and spent everyday life together, the house becomes filled with memories.

Even after moving out, we want Come on UP to remain the kind of place where you can come back and say:

“It’s been a while!”
